The PCM boys basketball team struggled in their final game of the regular season Thursday night at East Marshall, falling in a battle of the Mustangs 66-53.

Facing a quick East Marshall squad, PCM fell behind early and couldn’t quite close the deficit. East Marshall grabbed a 13-7 lead after the end of the first quarter and outscore PCM 20-15 in the second quarter to extend their lead to 33-22 at the intermission. The deficit for PCM grew to 52-38 at the end of the third quarter, and despite outscoring East Marshall 15-14 in the fourth quarter, it wasn’t enough to come away with the win. Jacob Wendt was PCM’s top scorer in the loss with 16 points, while Gavin Van Gorp added 14 points.

PCM ends the regular season with a 7-14 overall record, and now turn their attention to the Class 2A districts. The Mustangs open postseason play on Monday, hosting West Marshall.
