The Twin Cedars Boys Basketball Squad thoroughly dominated Moulton-Udell on Friday night in the opening round of the class 1A substate 83-42. The Sabers took command early and never let the lead get below 12 points in the 1st half then outscored the Eagles 46-17 in the 2nd half. The Sabers also shot the ball well at 48% and made 86% of their free throws. Coach Mateo Varese told KNIA/KRLS Sports it was an all-around good night for his team.
Varese: “OUr guys shot lights out, Holden had 25 points, Kasey got 22 and Kail got us a solid 10 points on the night. I told them we needed to get four guys to score in double figures tonight and they responded, we also played well defensively and they didn’t have an answer for us most of the night.”
Holden Roberts scored 25 points to lead the Sabers while Kasey Clark had a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Roberts and Clarke combined to shoot 18/27 from the field for a sizzling 66%. The Sabers now advance to play top seed Baxter on Monday.
