The Indianola City Council approved a change order on the Water Resource Recovery Facility Project at their meeting Monday, one of the final items of the project before it is fully completed. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News the change order marks the 99% completion mark of the facility.
“Ultimately it’s a change order to clean up everything at the very end of the project. When you look at all of the change orders combined with this project and the trunkline project, we are actually in the negative, so we are saving money. Less than 100th of 1% difference from the overall cost of the project. That’s amazing considering that the project was bid out in January of 2020, and all the construction took place in the pandemic and through the inflationary times of today with all the supply chain issues. So to see that project come through and be completed so close to directly on budget was amazing.”
Reeves also said to see the project come to fruition and on budget was a testament to the hard work of the city employees and construction companies.
