The Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad will begin its regional journey tonight with a home 1st round game against Newton. The two teams played just a couple of weeks ago in Wells Fargo Arena with Knoxville controlling the game from the outset and won comfortably 46-31. While the score was not overly impressive the Panthers were able to get everyone on the floor and after jumping on top by 14 points, coasted to the win. Panthers Coach Matt Ritchhart tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he does not want his player to look ahead to a potential meeting with Carlisle on Saturday, and focus on this game.

Ritchhart: “There’s never a sure thing, I think we jumped out to a 17-3 lead and it was even the rest of the way. They need to focus on this game and not get ahead to Carlisle.”

With a win, the Panthers would advance to play at Carlisle on Saturday in a regional semi-final. Listen to tonight’s action with the pregame at around 6:40 on 95.3 KNIA.
