Pella Christian hosts Cardinal to start the 2023 boys basketball postseason tonight in a class 2A substate 6 quarterfinal matchup.
The Eagles went 12-9 in the regular season, including a 6-8 mark in the rugged Little Hawkeye Conference, and received a first round bye. The Comets were 6-16, 2-12 in the South Central Conference, and knocked of Pleasantville 63-57 in their playoff opener.
While many Pella Christian fans might be looking ahead to a semifinal rematch against Wilton or a substate final against one-loss West Burlington, Eagles coach J.D. Boer is not.
“There’s one thing that’s guaranteed for us as far as this season goes, and that’s a game on Thursday, and then there’s nothing beyond that. Instilling that mindset in our guys is really important. You take this one game at a time and you enjoy it. I’m looking forward to enjoying that process.”
Tonight’s game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 at Pella Christian High School. Trevor Castle and Wynne Veenstra will call the action live on 92.1 KRLS and the Pella Christian YouTube channel beginning with pregame at 6:30.
