The Indianola School Board discussed the property tax levy at their meeting Tuesday, accounting for funds that were altered due to an error in the 2021 property tax law that gave school districts across the state extra funds. Superintendent Ted Ihns tells KNIA News the budget discussions are an ongoing process, and the district should know more about the property tax levy rate once the final numbers from the legislature come in.
“We are still waiting for the state to kind of give us the final numbers on where that’s going to be at. I know they are meeting in session now and that continues to move forward. Hopefully by I think March 1st we will have a better understanding of what that will look like.”
Ihns also said for those who wish to have their voices heard on the budget, the school board will have a public hearing on the topic in March, so anyone is welcome to attend that and speak, or contact their local legislators. To listen to the full interview, click below.
