Bridges 2 Harmony, the award-winning gospel choir from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, will perform at Second Reformed Church in Pella Saturday, Feb. 25.

The concert is set for 4 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church, on the corner of Broadway and Liberty Streets in Pella. Admission is free and the public is invited to the performance as well as a reception immediately afterwards.

Created in 2008 by the Rev. James McNear, Jr. to give students at Roosevelt High School “a quality music experience in the gospel genre,” the choir has staged hundreds of performances throughout Iowa and beyond. It’s billed as one of the last big gospel choirs in the state and one of the few from an Iowa high school. As many as 150 students audition for two dozen spots in a typical year. The choir’s mission is to build bridges across diverse people through music.

Alexander Gray, a northwest Indiana native, serves as the choir’s artistic director.
