The Knoxville Girls basketball Squad will head to Carlisle tonight for the class 4A Regional semifinal. The Panthers are bidding for an upset as the Wildcats have home court advantage and were ranked for most of the season until the final rankings came out. The Panthers are coming off a 59-44 win over Newton in the first round, while Carlisle was afforded a bye. Knoxville Coach Matt Ritchhart tells KNIA/KRLS Sports Carlisle is full of athletes and the Wildcats play a different style of defense.
Ritchhart: “They run that 2/1/2 press and fall back into a 3/2. Noring is a great player, and they brought up a freshman Camito and she’s a great player and 5/9. We know we’re going to have our hands full, but we’re going up there and giving our all.”
Carlisle finished 3rd in the Raccoon River Conference with a 9-5 record and sport a 14-7 overall mark. Ritchhart adds Knoxville also brought back much of the scoring and experience from last season and sees his experience as a help to pulling the upset tonight. Listen for the action on 95.3 KNIA with the pregame starting at 6:45.
