The Marion County Democrats will be holding a President’s Day Soup Luncheon Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville. There is no cost for the meal, but donations are welcome.

There will be a soup can drive for the food pantries in Knoxville and Pella. Food donations for canned soups can be arranged in Knoxville by calling Jan Evans 641-891-6616 or Louise Esveld in Pella at 641-352-6029. 

Evans tells KNIA/KRLS News “This can soup drive has been going on since Martin Luther King Day. It’s a month-long process.”

Guest speakers will be Melissa Peterson, ISEA (Iowa State Education Association) speaking on “Threats to Iowa Public Education,” and Democratic Iowa House Minority Leader Representative Jennifer Konfrst.
