Carlisle left little doubt as the Wildcats stormed out of a 13-1 lead early and never let up until late in the 4th quarter in a 65-25 win over Knoxville in the class 4A Regional Semifinal on Saturday heard live on 95.3 KNIA. Knoxville was tormented by Carlisle’s aggressive defense and full court pressure and never got into a rhythm of its own. Coach Matt Ritchhart gave full credit to the Wildcats and their style, but he also was proud of his team’s effort.
Ritchhart: “These girls tried, I know the scoreboard is lopsided. This was a different animal and we couldn’t replicate their pressure in practice, but the girls gave effort all season and I appreciate them for that.”
Emma Dunkin led the Panthers with nine points on the night and passed the 900 point mark for her career. Knoxville finishes the season with a 15-8 record.
