Knoxville School Superintendent Cassi Pearson tells KNIA/KRLS News how the State of Iowa approved three percent increase in supplemental aid for the next school year affects Knoxville. Knoxville’s school enrollment is up seven students from a year ago.
Pearson says, “Three percent was actually a little higher than what we anticipated. So, we are grateful for that. When the Governor came out with a 2.5 percent supplemental state aid. We were really figuring that’s what it would end up being. So, the fact the Senate and House went a little higher, we’re very appreciative.”
She added in light of inflation and cost of living going up closer to eight percent, and with all the money the state has in their rainy day fund and all of their accounts are full we were hoping we might get a little bit more.
