After a dominate 79-41 win over Cardinal on Friday, the Pella Christian boys basketball team now prepares for a rematch with Wilton on Tuesday in the Class 2A Substate 6 semifinals.
The Eagles squared off with the Beavers for the first time in the Varsity Bound era on December 19th, their final game before Christmas break. In a tightly contested showdown at Wilton, Pella Christian pulled out a 61-56 road win to hand the hosts their first loss of the season. Despite winning that prior meeting, Eagles head coach J.D. Boer says that both teams will be much different than they were two months ago.
“Well as as any season goes, you feel like you’re probably a lot different than you were in December and I’m assuming Wilton probably feels the same way. One thing it does tell us is that their big man, Caden Kirkman is really, really good. We learned that one. Man, he is an excellent player. And they surround him with a couple other really nice pieces too. So, it’s one of those things it’s nice to know, you know that you can beat them, especially a good team like that. It’s nice to have that confidence that you can go out there and do it. But as far as game planning goes, you’re kind of always just starting over, right? You’re not necessarily carrying anything back into it.”
The rematch between Pella Christian and Wilton will take place at Williamsburg High School on Tuesday and can be heard live on the KRLS2 stream at KNIAKRLS.com.
