The City of Indianola is holding their annual Property Tax Dollars Hearing tomorrow as part of the Indianola City Council meeting. The hearing is titled the Maximum Property Tax Dollars Hearing, and is where the Indianola City Council will finalize property tax levies. At the public hearing any resident or taxpayer may present objections to, or arguments in favor of the proposed tax levy. After adoption of a proposed tax levy, the City Council will publish notice and hold a hearing on the proposed city budget.
City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News the tax rate will increase slightly.

“We are doing everything we can to keep those taxes as low as possible. When you look at the fact that we are in inflationary times at CPIU, based on the Department of Labor, is 8.1%. What we have proposed is an increase of 2.5%, so really it’s a decrease if you really want to think about it. But we are trying to do that, and take those changes in a way that we are incorporating the costs in our operational budget as much as possible to minimize the impact on our residents.”

The hearing will take place in the City Council Chambers at Indianola City Hall.
