The Knoxville City Council met last night in regular session. There was a public hearing regarding the Knoxville Zoning Code Residential Districts Ordinance Relating to Subdivision of Duplex and Rowhouse Dwellings. The council heard updates on planning and zoning codes and definitions of codes.

There was a public hearing regarding the fiscal year 2023/2024 Maximum Property Tax Dollars and a public hearing set for March 6, 2023, At 6:15 P.M. to Approve the Fiscal Year 2023/2024 Budget.

The council heard Knoxville Housing Needs Assessment Overview and a “Love Where You Live,” Project Presentation.

The housing needs assessment showed that Knoxville’s population grew from 7,290 in 2010 to 7,580 residents in 2020. Projections have the city growing to 8,660 by 2040, an average of 54 residents per year.

“Love Where You Live,” is a project to add up to three murals, with the first one projected at the Auld Park backed by Thrive Knoxville. Council directed Hannah Vander Veer, who represented “Love Where You Live,” to move forward with the project.
