Artist Kristin Roach’s exhibit, “Junk Mail Migration,”is on display at the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge visitor center’s art gallery through Saturday. Roach will be presenting a program at 10:00 a.m. about her artwork and will share some facts about what inspired her to create the “Junk Mail Migration” artwork.

Through art and technology, this exhibit highlights how junk mail impacts the boreal forest ecosystem, including the birds that breed in this area and migrate through Iowa.

Additionally, Roach will be presenting a free weaving workshop entitled “Bringing the Outdoors In.”

During the workshop participants will learn the basics of tapestry weaving and create a nature-inspired weaving. Roach stated that “weaving provides the perfect way to express the inspiration we feel when in nature.” Roach said adults and children aged 10 and up are welcome to participate in the workshop, but space is limited to 24 attendees and registration is required.
