A group of Jefferson Intermediate Students aimed to put a dent in hunger earlier this month. Teacher Shannon Riggenbach says a Student Lighthouse Team made up of 14 6th graders kicked off a food drive fundraiser for the SOUPer Bowl. Each can of soup that was brought in was worth 6 points, and all other collected items were an extra point. Students and staff were able to collect close to 700 canned goods for the Pella Community Food Shelf. Thanks to a few last minute monetary donations, the Eagles pulled through with a winning score of 1382 to the Chiefs score of 1297.
