The Indianola City Council discussed the Hotel/Motel Tax Revenue during their work session Tuesday, reviewing how the funds will be spent over the next fiscal year. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News by state law, the funds have to be used for economic development purposes.
“That’s how they are derived, they come from people visiting hotels and motels. So we had several requests come in, the council considered all of those, and balanced out the available resources with all of the different entities to entities that are requesting, and ensured the money is going to the balloons, to the opera, and to the fair. All the great activities of the downtown merchants. Making sure that we are supporting our merchants and our businesses in such a manner that it continues to drive the overall success of our community.”
