The Indianola City Council will hold the public hearing on the upcoming FY24 budget later than usual this year, due to possible changes from the Iowa Legislature. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News the city is waiting on some policies and discussions from the state legislature to be more clear regarding property taxes before approving the budget.
“Because of so much being in flux, we are holding off on moving forward with the budget to ensure we are living within our means and being compliant with state statutes that are coming forth. That being said, we are anticipating having our budget hearing on April 17th. The new budget deadline for the state is April 30th, so we are delaying our budget hearing until the 17th of April so we can make sure we are taking everything into consideration as we move forward.”
