The Indianola Police Department has received their new K9 officer, Kilo. Kilo is a one-and-a-half year old Belgian Malamute/German Shepherd, and is assigned to Officer Nixon.
Chief Brian Sher tells KNIA News the K-9 program will serve Indianola by helping to locate lost and at-risk individuals, help stop the flow of illegal drugs in the community, and assist in community outreach and policing efforts.
Kilo is currently in a training program, and will be joined by Officer Nixon next month before beginning patrols.
