It won’t be long before the clomping of wooden shoes will be heard along Franklin Street in Pella. Dutch street dancers are wanted for the 88th Tulip Time celebration, and the Tulip Time Steering Committee is inviting all 5th graders and older to participate May 4th through the 6th.
Practices start for new participants this Thursday, and continue every following Monday and Thursday until the celebration at Jefferson Intermediate School from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. — with exceptions for Spring Break and the Thursday before Easter.
All street dancers (including alumni) will practice on April 24, 25, 26 and May 1, 2 from 6:30 PM – 7:15 PM on Franklin Street in front of the Tulip Toren. Participants are responsible for providing their own wooden shoes.
This is just one of many ways to volunteer, according to Pella Historical Museums Assistant Director Jessi Vos.
