The Marion County Board of Supervisors appointed Jared Harmon as the new Marion County Attorney Tuesday. Prior to being promoted, Harmon served as the First Assistant County Attorney.
Harmon tells KNIA/KRLS News, “Well, first I want to thank the board of supervisors for putting their faith in me. I understand the responsibility that they have given me. It’s going to be a lot of hard work but that’s something I’m not afraid of. Luckily we have a great staff here at the Marion County Attorney’s Office. We have two great assistants and our support staff is second to none. Great law enforcement in this county and I really appreciate all the support that I’ve gotten from law enforcement and I look forward to protecting the people of Marion County. Like I said we’ve got a lot of work to do and we’ll do it to the best of our abilities. I view this job as service to the community and that’s what I hope to do is serve the people of Marion County well.”
Harmon is a graduate of Simpson College where he received degrees in Economics and Business Management in 2002. He attended law school at Creighton University and graduated in 2005. He maintained a legal practice in Des Moines from 2005 until 2014 when he joined the Marion County Attorney’s Office.
