The North American, nonprofit Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition (HFSC) has named Knoxville Fire Department a Built for Life Fire Department to acknowledge its efforts to help the residents of Knoxville understand the life-saving importance of installing fire sprinkler systems.
Knoxville Fire Chief Cal Wyman tells KNIA/KRLS News, “Just a couple days ago we were presented with an award from the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition. What they do is they look at what you do for public education, your codes, that kind of stuff and we were named a Built for Life Fire Department through them which is a national award through their organization. So we were because of what we do and how we do it and the codes we have in town and the education that we put behind the importance of sprinkler systems in our community. This coalition presented us with this award.”
HFSC works with fire departments in the U.S. and Canada to increase awareness about fire sprinkler protection.
