The Melcher-Dallas Boys Basketball Squad finished 11-11 this season, which is not a winning season numerically, but an improvement from the last few seasons of finishing under .500. Coach John Suntken tells KNIA Sports they missed out on a lot of chances to have a better record, but overall he is pleased that his team improved throughout the season.

Suntken: “Overall I think it was a good season. I don’t know if we ever got into a full rhythm to showcase what we could do this season, and that’s on me. It is what it is, it was a win and we’re now going to open the next chapter in the book,”

That next chapter will not include Suntken, as he told KNIA Sports that this was his last season of coaching basketball. He says after 32 years it is time to let someone else take command. He will still stay on as Dallas Elementary Principal.
