Two Knoxville Bowlers were able to be named to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association and the Iowa High School Bowling Association all-district teams for their performances this season. For the boys, Tristen Carter made the 1st team. The junior was the only Panther to make the state meet finishing in 18th place. Carter led the Panthers with 4,146, and he had a high game of 235. Coach Shaun Renard tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the boys put up better numbers as the season went on and were playing their best at the state qualifier.
Renard: “As a team we knew we were going in there as underdogs, but we still had a decent day and they should not hang their heads on that performance.”
On the girls side, Brigette Renard was named to the 2nd team all-district. The freshman led the Panthers in total pins with 3,812, and had the high game of the season at 220. Remard says the girls also put up better numbers at the State Qualifier than the conference meet less than a week before.
Renard 2: “When it came time for our State Qualifier, they actually put up a better score than our conference meet three days before. They were 60–70 pins better than they were at conference and showed a lot of improvement during their baker games.”
The Panthers will have several returning bowlers next season including Carter and Renard.
