Putting together a monster opening weekend at the plate, Central College sophomore center fielder Logan McCoy was named the American Rivers Conference Baseball Position Player of the Week and the league’s Male Athlete of the Week.
Hitting from the leadoff spot, McCoy hit .727 with an OPS of 1.891. He reached base on 12 of his 15 plate appearances, scoring seven times. He had a pair of doubles, a triple and four RBI across three games. He also stole three bases and took three walks.
It was the first career weekly conference honor for McCoy.
Central posted a 3-0 record against Elmhurst College (Ill.) and Eureka College (Ill.) on the weekend and heads to the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational for eight games starting this Sunday.
