A late season winter storm will most likely impact the northern half of the state Thursday, but local travel concerns remain possible depending on the final track of the storm.
According to the National Weather Service, a mix of rain and snow is expected in south central Iowa, and the final snowfall accumulations will remain low if temperatures climb into the upper 30s and low 40s, but any cooler air may make for more winter precipitation. In total, between a ¼” and ½” of rain is in the forecast, which may freeze overnight in some locations. Much heavier snow is expected in the northern half of the state, with most locations receiving more than four inches.
Another round of wintry precipitation remains possible this weekend as well, although details will become more clear later this week. Stay tuned to 92.1 KRLS for the latest winter weather information.
