The Indianola City Council received the annual report from the Indianola Police Department at their meeting Monday, which detailed how the investments in personnel and salary by the council and city staff have improved employee retention and satisfaction. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News the city was in danger of losing a lot of the public safety employees to other cities in the Des Moines metro area, and now they are in a good spot.
“As the council has invested more into our public safety, not only in opportunities and salary, but what we need as far as capital improvements to our facilities, we are seeing our officers are becoming more invested in the community and are here long-term. That’s just a win for everyone in the community.”
