Adam Norris is heading up a committee to raise funds for the Knoxville varsity baseball field. The goal is to raise $250,000 for upgrading the facilities. Funds will go towards new fencing and backstop, bleachers with handicap accessibility, concrete for bleachers and a more accessible walkway.

The Knoxville School District is also expected to contribute funds toward the project. According to Norris the goal is to have the project complete before the 2024 baseball season.

There are different levels of support as there are advertising opportunities on the scoreboard, visitor dugout, outfield fencing and the pressbox. A committee of six are heading up the fundraising efforts including head varsity baseball coach Turner DeVore.

The fundraising effort is already underway. Knoxville varsity baseball coach Turner DeVore tells KNIA/KRLS News, “Just to address the needs to begin with. The outfield fence is in really bad shape. I believe I was told it was the original, so late 70s, early 80s, mid 80s, somewhere around that. The fence really isn’t even connected anymore. It’s almost as if something were to happen and someone ran through it. It’s just not in great shape. That’s the big first thing.”

For fans who like to bring their lawn chairs to games, they will still have that opportunity to do so according to Norris and DeVore.
