The Indianola Police Department implemented a drone program in 2022, with multiple officers earning certification on flying the drone that assists the department looking for suspected criminals, missing persons, and more. Police Chief Brian Sher tells KNIA News the program has been an immediate success.
“We had six officers complete the training to be certified drone pilots, and we purchased a drone. It is just phenomenal, the capabilities on it are unbelievable. Since June, we’ve done 16 actual missions with it, from missing people to suicidal people. It’s been a big help, and another tool in our toolbox.”
