The Indianola City Council received an update on the sidewalks on the ongoing Hillcrest Ave Reconstruction Project at their meeting Monday. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News there was some confusion when residents looked at the project, since the Iowa DOT is taking on some of the project, the city is only responsible for a third of the sidewalk so it looked like an isolated area of sidewalk. Reeves said the whole road will be covered.

“Our community development department has done a great job of negotiating with Executive Car Wash with their construction efforts and other commercial owners out there, so the sidewalk will continue from Hillcrest and go north as commercial development continues. Each business will be taking care of their portion of sidewalks, and the city will be taking care of their portion of sidewalk as well.”
