A Pella woman turned herself into police this past weekend after she allegedly harassed members of the Tulip Time Royal Court.
Chandra Clark, 53, was charged with 3rd degree harassment.
According to the Pella Police Department, a family received a letter in the mail containing photos of their daughter. The photos had captions which contained abusive and vulgar language, and were mailed anonymously and without a return address, explanation of the pictures, or any identification of who sent them. Pella Historical Museums Executive Director Valerie Van Kooten says they also received copies, as did others associated with the group, in an apparent attempt to have one of the girls removed from the court.
“Our number-one concern has always been for the safety and well-being of the young women who are on our Court and that they will have a memorable, positive year being ambassadors of Pella,” Van Kooten stated.
Chandra Clark admitted to police to sending the anonymous envelope containing the pictures to the victims. She turned herself in at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday March 11th and was subsequently released. Clark is a gifted and talented teacher in the Pella Community School District, and district administration confirmed she remains employed as of Monday.
