An emphasis for the past year for the Indianola Police Department has been officer training, keeping up on safety, community relations, and more. Police Chief Brian Sher tells KNIA News he wanted to make sure officers were comfortable in all situations so they won’t encounter many surprises.
“In 2022, we did 1,581 hours of training. The minimum I think is 20 hours per officer, and we far exceed that. We are actually at 309 hours ahead of 2021 with our training, and we are going to continue that. Training is just so important for the community.”
