There are 17 girls out for track and field at Melcher-Dallas, and Coach Amy Stuart is excited to see what her team can do this season. She tells KNIA Sports with higher numbers, she can play around with relay line ups and mix and match girls in open events.
Stuart: “Considering that’s the most girls we have in any sports, I feel fortunate to have 17 and build some events and score more points.”
Right now, Stuart is eyeing a couple of girls in events, like Gabby Overgaard in the throws. Stuart adds she showed great improvement through the season last spring, plus Addi Wadle, who is coming off an outstanding basketball season will try to compete in the distance events. Stuart says Wadle is healthy now after seeing her cross country season cut short due to an injury. The Saints first meet is scheduled on April 3rd at the Meskwaki Settlement Invitational.
