One of the big issues discussed at the Marion County Board of Supervisors Meeting Tuesday was setting the prices for standard lots at the VA Campus. Glenn Lyons, Director of Economic Development, made a proposal to the board for standard size lots on the campus.
According to Lyons the smaller size standard lots would be 50 feet wide x 110 feet deep and they will be priced at $27,000 while the larger standard lots are 60 feet wide x 110 deep and they will be priced to sell at $31,000. The prices were approved by the board.
Lyons is looking at marketing the lots no later than May with possession in September.
The board approved the purchase of a new voting machine to be used in elections. The current machines were purchased in 2015 and cost around $200,000. The new machines that were approved by the board will cost around $150,000.
An active threat training exercise for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office will close the courthouse April 4 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The board also approved a special courtyard event March 29 for Iowa Flag Day from 4-5:30 p.m.
Discussion on expansion at Slideways was tabled. Plans call for installation of a bowling alley, expansion of the bar, cart storage and additional parking.
Numerous county road projects were approved including on T-17, resurfacing of G-71, G-76 for widening for curves, and paving the shoulder on T-15 and work on the Flagler Bridge.
Parking for the Marion County Fair Association was approved by the board on a yearly basis.
