Only nine boys are out for Melcher-Dallas Track and Field this spring, which is not exactly where coach John Suntken would like it, but as he says it is what it is. Five of the team members are seniors, so even with low numbers Suntken knows he will have great leadership starting with Logan Godfrey, Max Enfield, and Owen Suntken. Those three were also on the shuttle hurdle team that made the state meet along with Godfrey in the high jump and Suntken in the 110 high hurdles. John Suntken tells KNIA Sports while numbers are small he is glad to have five seniors who know how to get to the Blue Oval, and want to make a return trip…

Suntken: “Owen made in the highs last year along with Logan, Max in the shuttle and we need to find a replacement for Anthony, and Logan made in the high jump. We wish we could have had more numbers.”

The Saints are scheduled to open the season April third at Meskwaki Settlement.
