The unemployment rate increased slightly in January, according to the latest data from Iowa Workforce Development.
In Marion County, the percentage is at 2.6%, an increase from 2.2% in December and decrease from 2.8% in January 2022. There are 18,680 employed residents and 510 individuals seeking work and receiving benefits.
In Warren County, the January percentage also increased to 3.3% from 2.6% in December, and was at 3.2% this time last year. There are 28,900 employed residents and 1,000 individuals seeking work and receiving benefits.
Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped from 3.1% in December to 3.0% in January and was at 2.7% one year ago. The January national unemployment rate dropped to 3.4%.
