Construction work continues on Lake Ahquabi and Lake Ahquabi State Park south of Indianola, after work began several years ago to drain the lake and improve the campground site. Parks Supervisor Chad Kelchen tells KNIA News the lake needed to be drained to fix several issues with the spillways and fish population, and decided while that was taking place to take advantage of the time to improve the conditions of the campground. Lake Ahquabi is expected to be open to the public sometime around the Memorial Day weekend, however no date has yet been set. For more information, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
