The South Central Conference could be the most competitive it has been especially in girls track and field in many years. Knoxville has always been near the top and looks to challenge for the title this season. Coach Michael Splavec tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, Davis County is still the clear favorite, but he thinks on meet day it will be a close race.

Splavec: Always, it never fails, they seem to bring in new kids. They are the favorite, after that, it’s going to be close. Fast is fast no matter what class you’re in and that’s what makes the conference so competitive this year.”

Splavec adds with the addition of Cardinal, the Comets if not contending for the team title, will have athletes that can win a conference championship.
