A pair of area teams had an athlete earn a victory at the Central College Indoor Track and Field Invitational Saturday as the girls competed. No team scores were kept.

Pella was led by a victory from seven-time state track and field qualifier Jacie Trine, who placed 1st in the 400 meter dash — an event in which she’s a top returner from 2022, placing 6th last year.

Knoxville found a win from senior Melanie Sullivan, who topped a deep field in the long jump with a 17′ 01.5″ mark — one that would have been top eight at state last year, besting her 2022 high currently posted on Varsity Bound by nearly a foot.

PCM had the top runner from the 60 meter hurdles out of preliminaries, and Morgan Karr continued a strong indoor season. Karr improved on her time by .36 seconds to place 2nd in the finals later in the day.

Coming up next, Pella heads to the Little Hawkeye Conference indoor meet in Grinnell Thursday; Knoxville and PCM are off until the outdoor season begins.
