Fundraising is underway to support a $1.5 million capital campaign to help the Pella Community Food Shelf fully move into a new space later this spring. Executive Director Melissa Zula says they will spend April and May renovating a building purchased at 1111 West 16th Street, which will become the non-profit organization’s permanent home for operations in June. In the meantime, Zula says their regular pickups for the 80 to 100 households they serve per month will continue at The Well on Oskaloosa Street on Tuesday mornings and evenings.
Those who would like to learn more about the move of the Pella Community Food Shelf should email director@pellacommunityfoodshelf.org or call (641)780-1779. Any donations can be made by writing a check to the Pella Community Food Shelf or on their Venmo account; Zula asks that those contributions be designated or marked with “Capital Campaign” if going toward the building project.
