The Indianola City Council will have their FY2024 budget public hearing on April 17th, later than normal due to the Iowa Legislature still working on possible property tax valuations and reform. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News the council made it a priority to not raise property tax rates for the upcoming budget despite the economic difficulties.
“It is a challenging time for the economy in general and with changes coming from the state legislature it has become a real difficult thing to try and manage and put all the pieces together. I know our elected leaders are working hard to try to keep property taxes flat.”
