The defending Class 3A state high school jazz champions have one more showcase at home before competing for a fourth consecutive state title. All three ensembles from Pella High School Jazz are hosting a community concert Monday at 7 p.m. in Tamory Hall. It’s been a busy winter for the jazz bands of Pella High School — they performed in their annual clinics/concert on February 21st and the varsity band was a runner-up in their class at the Waukee Northwest Jazz Festival. Monday’s concert is just over a week ahead of Pella Jazz I returning to the Iowa Jazz Championships in Ames. The band won their 19th state title last spring, and have placed in the top four of the showcase of Iowa’s best high school jazz bands for 38 consecutive years. Pella performs on Tuesday, April 4th at 2:15 p.m. at Iowa State University in Ames.
