The Pella School Board will review the district’s certified budget process at their meeting Monday. A presentation will be given to highlight the current fiscal status of the district and a comparison of property tax rates over multiple years. The board will schedule a public hearing for formal consideration of the fiscal year 2024 budget on April 10th.
Also on the agenda is review of potential application to join the Iowa Local Government Risk Pool — a group formed by school districts to meet their unique budget challenges and help them navigate the changing energy landscape. The review will include a proposed 28E Agreement for participation in the group.
Additionally, a new longevity pay schedule for custodians, bus drivers, and food service hourly employees will be considered. The board will also review the district’s career and academic plan, and discuss the Pella Community School District’s current book challenging policy and how that may be impacted by legislation passed in the Iowa Senate. The board will review a proposed plan to alter the current director districts ahead of the upcoming school elections this fall as well.
The Pella School Board will also receive a presentation from Neumann Monson about ongoing construction projects in the Pella Community School District and monthly updates from all administrators.
This week’s meeting begins at 4:30 Monday afternoon in the Pella High School Library and can be viewed online.
