Knoxville Boys Soccer Outlasts Carlisle In Season Opener

One-hundred minutes of action was not enough to decide the season opening match for the Knoxville Boys Soccer Squad on Thursday night at Randy Wilson Track, so it came down to PKs and the Panthers outscored the Wildcats in the session 6-5 to take the match. Joe Finnegan got the winning goal on the last penalty kick round. He along with twin brother Jensen, Bryce Metier, Ezra Schmidt, Connor Willis, and Max Magana all scored in penalty kicks. Panthers Coach Dylan Mick told KNIA/KRLS Sports neither team quit, and he was glad his team came out on top.

Mick: “Gritty and it was wild and a lot of fun, and I have a lot of respect for their coach. I told them one of my favorite Mike Tyson quotes is ‘it’s hard to beat an opponent that won’t quit.’ And I thought we did enough and we weren’t going to quit.”

Knoxville is 1-0 on the season and will travel to Oskaloosa on Monday.
