Nearly a dozen severe thunderstorm warnings impacted Marion and Warren Counties in south central Iowa today for a storm system that spawned several tornadoes in eastern Iowa.

The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team was on the air for 10 total warnings from 12:45 to 4:45 p.m., with eight staff members contributing to coverage throughout the day, and live spotter reports coming from Lacona, Melcher-Dallas, and Bussey, and updates from Indianola, Knoxville, and Pella. Weatherology meteorologists also joined the coverage for several updates throughout the afternoon.

More than a dozen reports of large hail were confirmed in Pella, Knoxville, Lake Red Rock, Attica, Lacona, and Milo, and wind gusts over 60 MPH were reported in Bussey, Tracy, and Knoxville, with tree damage reported in those areas.
