The Norwalk girls track and field team placed second at Ballard Thursday night while the Warrior boys soccer team lost a 6-1 decision at Ames.

The girls track squad earned second place out of six teams, unofficially, at the Ballard Invite. Gold medals were earned by sophomore Bailey Birmingham in the 400-meter hurdles as well as the Warrior shuttle hurdle and 4×200 relays. Norwalk also placed second in seven events: Nyah Hulbert in the 200-meter dash, Grace DeRocher in the 1,500, Liz Iverson in the 400 hurdles and the 4×100, 4×400, 4×800 and distance medley relays.

The next meet for the Warrior girls is Tuesday, April 4, at Waukee.

The Norwalk soccer boys dropped to 0-2 on the season following Thursday’s 6-1 defeat. Ames, now 1-1 overall, led 2-1 at halftime and scored four unanswered goals in the final 40 minutes. Six different Little Cyclone players registered goals on the night.

Caden Endres had the lone Norwalk score with his second goal of the season. The Warriors will return to action on Tuesday, April 4, traveling to Pella for their Little Hawkeye Conference opener.
