The Pella Christian boys soccer team opened their 2023 season with a 2-0 victory over Highway 163 rival PCM Thursday night.

After a scoreless first half, the Eagles Trevan Parker found the back of the net in the 8th minute of the second half on a pass from Aiden Stoltz in front of the goal. Pella Christian struck again for the final goal of the game in the 22nd minute of the second half with Aiden Stoltz lofted a cross pass to Ethan Van Arendonk, who finished it off with a header.  The Eagle defense kept PCM’s offense at bay allowing just two shots on goal.

Pella Christian improved to 1-0 on the season, while PCM’s record fell to 1-1. The Eagles are scheduled to be back in action tonight with a 5:30 p.m. contest at Albia, while the Mustangs are off until Thursday when they host Chariton.
