The Simpson softball team picked up a pair of huge non-conference wins Thursday afternoon on the road at Cornell, sweeping the Rams 3-1 and 3-2. The Storm traded runs with Cornell in the first inning of game one, but would immediately score again on a Caelynn Obleton single to take a 2-1 advantage. That score held until the seventh when Kate Kriegel doubled to add an insurance run, and Taryan Barrick-Wessels pitched seven innings giving up only one hit.

Game two was scoreless until the fifth when Simpson plated two runs when Kriegel again drove in a run, and eventually came around to score on a wild pitch. The Storm added an insurance run in the seventh on a Zoe Baker RBI hit, and would have to hold on as the Rams scored two runs and had the bases loaded before a popup to second was secured for the win. Madi Peterson earned the win in game two.

Simpson improves to 16-4, and begins American Rivers Conference play Tuesday at Nebraska Wesleyan.
