The Indianola City Council met in regular session Monday, where the council directed city staff to open the application process to fill the open at-large position via appointment.

The council approved a resolution awarding the contract to Vanderpool Construction, Inc.
for the East Hillcrest Avenue Reconstruction Project for just under $5.1 million, approximately $363,000 below the engineer’s estimate. The project is expected to be complete by the summer of 2025.

The council gave direction to move forward with the distribution of Homeserve Utility Line Warranty Program letters to Indianola residents, and approved a resolution approving a plat of survey for property located behind 1104 Ann Parkway, and an application under the Amended and Restated 1998 Citywide Urban Revitalization Plan.

The council also gave direction to city staff to move forward with a sewer rate adjustment from a base rate of $18 to $25, which includes the first 1,000 gallons, and a usage rate increase from $9.85 per 1,000 gallons to $11.50 per 1,000 gallons, before going into closed session to discuss the purchase or sale of real estate.
