The Central College men’s tennis team picked up its second American Rivers Conference win of the spring with a 9-0 sweep of Simpson College Tuesday.

The Dutch took all three doubles points, but the Storm were in all three matches. Simpson won at least four games in each, but the Dutch got a couple crucial breaks of serve to take a 3-0 lead into singles. Central then won each of the six singles matches to claim the sweep, but the Storm nearly claimed three of the matches before ultimately falling.

For the Dutch, Caleb Hamerlinck was a 6-1, 7-5 winner at No. 4 singles. Trey Melvin and Nick Scott won by identical 6-3, 6-2 scores in singles at the Nos. 1 and 2 spots, respectively. AJ Wilkins won 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, Ayden Fletcher won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 and Matthew Den Adel won 7-6, 6-0 at No. 6. In the doubles matches, Hamerlinck and Scott won 8-6 at No. 1. Den Adel and Melvin won 8-4 at No. 2 and Alejo Marcon and Wilkins won 8-4 at No. 3.

Central goes to Augustana College (Ill.) for a 4 p.m. match on Thursday. The Storm resume action next Wednesday with a road match at Nebraska Wesleyan.
